Cookie policy
This page explains the small text files and similar browser storage used by Xylran. Cookies help remember a consent choice and, if enabled, provide aggregate information about how readers navigate the publication. We do not use cookies to infer medical conditions or build advertising audiences. The policy applies to the Xylran website.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small value stored by a browser for a defined period. It can be first-party, placed by Xylran, or third-party, placed by a provider we use. Cookies can be session-based and expire when a browser closes, or persistent and remain for a stated lifespan. Browser settings can usually remove or block them.
2. Essential preference
The cookieChoice value records whether you selected Accept or Reject in the consent banner. It is used to avoid showing the same banner on every page. It contains a choice, not a name, email address or health detail. It is retained for up to 12 months unless you clear browser storage earlier.
3. Analytics
Optional analytics may be enabled only after consent and are configured to support aggregate reading insights. A provider may receive a page path, approximate technical information and event time. We review analytics settings to reduce collection and do not intentionally send contact-form contents. Optional tools can be disabled by clearing consent or changing browser controls.
4. Session operation
Some hosting functions may use a session cookie that lasts until the browser closes. It supports secure delivery, request handling or temporary preferences. It is not a user profile and does not identify a reader by name. Blocking it may affect ordinary site operation.
5. Third parties
Embedded content or links may set cookies under another organisation's policy. We do not control a third party's retention, transfer or advertising practice. Review the destination notice before accepting external storage. Xylran does not sell cookie identifiers to advertisers.
6. Your choices
You can select Accept or Reject in the banner. You can also delete cookies through browser settings, block third-party cookies or use private browsing. Choices may need to be repeated on another device. Rejecting optional tools does not prevent access to editorial pages.
7. Retention
Preference storage lasts 12 months. Analytics retention is configured by the relevant provider and reviewed at least annually. Security records may be held for 90 days to investigate abuse. We remove tools that no longer have a clear operational or editorial purpose.
8. Mobile and shared devices
A browser choice applies to that browser profile, not necessarily to every person using a shared device. Sign-out is not relevant because Xylran does not require a reader account. Use device privacy controls when reading on a public computer. Do not save personal contact details in a shared form.
9. Changes
This notice was published on 12 October 2026. We will update it when cookie names, purposes or providers materially change. The date at the top identifies the current version. A new consent request may appear after a material change.
10. Contact
Questions can be sent to Jalan Merdeka 54, Kelurahan Gondangdia, Menteng, Central Jakarta 10350, Indonesia, or +62 813 6745 2891. Tell us the browser, page and concern where possible. We will explain the current configuration without requesting unnecessary personal information.
In practice, the essential preference may be stored under the name cookieChoice for up to 12 months. A short-lived session value may be used by the hosting layer and normally expires when the browser closes. If optional analytics are enabled, an analytics provider may set identifiers such as _ga or an equivalent first-party measurement value, commonly with a lifespan of up to 13 months, subject to the provider configuration in force at the time. We will not intentionally place optional measurement cookies before consent.
Cookie controls differ between browsers. You can clear stored values, block third-party cookies, restrict all cookies or receive a notice before storage through browser settings. Clearing cookieChoice may cause the consent banner to appear again. Blocking essential session storage can affect navigation, form handling or security checks, while rejecting optional analytics should not prevent access to editorial pages.
Where a third-party player, map or embedded resource is added to an article, that service may process technical information under its own notice. We review embeds before publication and prefer links or privacy-conscious alternatives where practical. A provider may process data outside Indonesia, and its retention, transfer safeguards and cookie names should be checked in its own documentation. We do not use cookie data to infer medical conditions or to sell contact information.
To ask about a cookie, send the page address and the cookie name to Xylran at Jalan Merdeka 54, Kelurahan Gondangdia, Menteng, Central Jakarta 10350, Indonesia, or call +62 813 6745 2891. We aim to acknowledge queries within 7 days and respond within 30 days. This notice was reviewed on 12 October 2026 and may be revised when the consent mechanism, providers or legal requirements change.
